Would you non-donors be prepared to donate once a year, say $20 to have access to the service in the donor section?

It will not get the traffic like it used to if it were to be locked away in the "donors" section, which defeats the purpose of bringing it back IMHO.  This would once again create an unhealthy us and them forum.  I do think that if the minimum "donation" was $10 that would make it far more appealing.

Why re-invent the wheel? No other hunting/fishing/outdoor forum that I belong to charges to list things for sale. Commercially its the foot traffic that pays the bills. Apart from a good ole shit fight or nude pics of Helen Clarke, nothing attracts punters better than a for sale section. Commercial forum sponsors should utilise the for sale section much more. In my opinion, Alan gave it a go. Results speak for themselves. Nek Minut

I agree Tone but thought I'd ask anyway just to gauge opinion. Bring back the free Buy/Sell section I say and look to another way to boost revenue.

Well looks like this thread was a waste of time... clearly the people have spoken but no one is listening  Shocked Shocked

Surely the new site is costing money rather than making any in its current state???

The boss is away guiding and we, mods don't have the authority to change anything. Doesn't mean to say I'm not personally sympathetic to your cause, but there is absolutely nothing I can do at the moment, except inform you of the situation.  Smiley

I was just perving on yet another NZ owned and operated site and they have two columns of ads, one left and one right. Takes up the whole screen. (Not a hunting site)

They certainly have a huge mebership. The one post I was looking at had 10,000 plus replys..  Cheesy

How would you feel about that?

Its pointless getting all aggro and stamping your feet and throwing ya toys out of the cot over this.

The poll and this thread have  produced a result that is fairly obviously in favour of some kind of BST forum , but it is still up to Allan to make a call on what happens. Like the Mainland cheese ads say - good things take time , and this one isnt going to get changed in the next 5 minutes. Patience , and civility please.

And no - I have no commercial interest in this thread , other than being an occasional buyer/seller on the old forum page .

I can not see any "aggro" at all on this thread.  The thread was intended to encourage some healthy debate/ideas on the issue.

I honestly don't give a hoot what happens...just saying.

If you want to give stuff away take it to your local deerstalkers club. There'll be young guys that would be very greatful to take it off your hands.
