Well Aunty you seem nice but please stop.
What are your rules with firearms and is it hard for a person outside of NZ to get permissions to hunt?

Hahaha  Grin

You can use a rifle and hunt under the direct supervision of a NZ firearms license holder, without much hassle.

Alternatively, if you want to hunt by yourselves, international visitors can apply for a temporary firearms license I believe.

There are plenty of easily acessible public areas to hunt in NZ, with appropriate permits obtained from the Department of Conservation (www.doc.govt.nz). All large game animals hunted in NZ can be found on DOC land...in relevant areas of the country.

Private land is more difficult to access, however if you are lucky enough to be taken on a hunt with a forum member chances are you may get the opportunity. Some great hunting can be found on private land.

If you make it south of Queenstown, send me a PM and I could organise a hunt with you guys for red deer, fallow or chamois.

Cheers

Too late pal. Aunty has staked a claim and you and your mate are now "hers". None of us will dare try and rescue you from her clutches, anyone wishing to take you out for a hunt while you're here will have to ask Aunty's permission.

She loves Danish custard. Or a custard Danish, I can never remember which.

Good luck.  Smiley

Whatever happened to those Norwegian boys that Aunty "looked after"?
Did they make it safely home after shooting wood pigeons?

Go into the members section and look up
Ryan - The Great Dane. He is one of your fellow countrymen and even speaks the same language.I'm sure he will get you on the right track.
He was out here the year before last and spent a couple of nights with Aunty. Coincidentally neither of them are virgins anymore  Shocked

Hey JoshC
We're not so familiar with the NZ nature and your animals, so it could be nice if you or someone else could help us with some hunt. Red deer, fallow and chamois sounds awesome. My friend haven't hunted so much and we've discussed that it might be fun to go possum or rabbit hunting too. Smiley

No problem, that could easily be arranged. Just let me know when you're down this end of the country  Smiley

I worked in Australia for most of a year with four Danish guys, then they over to NZ for a look around. We took them out hunting a couple of times too.

Hello guys. I'm back!  Cool

Oh, how I've missed you dirty mind Aunty. I'll never forget you - it still stings every time I take a leak  Tongue

I met Mikkel some time ago, when he asked me about my trip and told him to have a look at the forum... and what a welcome.
I've told him some tips and tricks, but I'm less than novice compared to you guys.
My best advice would be spotlighting. It's pretty easy, loads of fun and just so different from anything these guys will ever come to try back home.
A 14 inch thar would make a great trophy, but taking their time into consideration the odds don't look too good.

Anyway - Mikkel seems like a good man and I'm sure these guys will have an amazing trip.

Take care. Ryan

Ah ha... Aunties origins must be Austrian based on the fact it's the Austrians who tend to keep their loved ones in the basement.  Roll Eyes

Hey Josh.. If you are still willing to take us hunting, maybe you could pm your email-adress or a phone number we can call when we arrive at New Zealand.
