"Tahr: A New Zealand Hunter's Handbook"
Jul 18th, 2010 at 11:49am

Was given a voucher recently and used it to get a copy of Steuart Laing's new book "Tahr: A New Zealand Hunter's Handbook", the follow up to his book on chamois.

Read most of it now, and I think it is great, well worth buying and reading for tahr hunters old and new. IMHO a much better book than "Alpine Hunting in NZ".

Some interesting comments in there on heli-hunting and on the value of the Himalayan Tahr Control Plan to hunters.

I see Forum advertiser Safari Supply Company has it for sale at a discount so worth getting it there.  Smiley

I second that - it's a very easy read that conveys a lot of information.

If someone wanted to get started in tahr hunting would this be the recommended book to read?
