Good on you Cruz, keep up the effort, hell, I don't count hedgehogs, we get a few, they seem to arrive in families. Even seen the nocturnal little nasties on some of our game cameras. Quite interesting observing passing deer's reactions to a dead possum in a Timms trap on the game cam. pic's.
I capture some very large feral cats on my game cameras.
Whats the best way of trapping them people? Need to be kill traps because I can't check them regularly.
Did my trap run at the Park today to beat the incoming rain - mustilids have to be around - but this box has been there for three years and only ever had hogs and rats I reckon it is a good set - adjacent to a farm fence, bush for cover, rats, rabbits, Quail and Pheasants for food - what more could a ferret want - well maybe some very manky “Chef” salmon and chicken cat tucker - or was she heading for the plastic eggs - when I am desperate - I will try anything - ironically I was ready to buy some chicken necks for a change Also got three rats and a couple of Mates got five rats each - 215 pests so far this year

Local traps this morning, 2 rats and a mouse in a Victor pro.. bit of overkill
High country traps i only got a h h.
great catch Cruz
I heard a great idea the other day in live cat traps. Tie the bait up in a bit of muslin cloth and the cats claws get caught in the muslin for a split second .. enough time for the gate to shut behind the cat..

Hullo!, I thought, when I saw the ramp on the Holdem trap was locked in the up position, a damn rat. As the trap was located on the rear deck of our hut, that's what I expected, but no, inside was mr. cheeky stoat. Caught another two stoats as well over the last three weeks, along with several h/hogs and three possums. The smoked schnapper did not seem to work as bait for stoats or feral cats, chicken bones were the stoat's undoing.
Get as close as you can, then get a bit closer.

Nothing to report on stoat trapping - I only ever got one cat in a Timms - it had a standard size hole - enlarged the hole to 100mm dia in a couple of traps but never had a strike - but I was still caging them
The great thing about a Timms is they are easy to hair trigger and then they will also take out a rat - got this big Norway a couple of weeks back - he must have been half a kilo - a huge rat!

Mice seem to be the flavour of the month. My Victors either had a mouse in them or had the peanut butter eaten and the trap wasnt sprung. However i did get a first for me, a juvenile stoat in a Victor baited with peanut butter ! I guess it could of been attracted to the smell of a mouse that had eaten the peanut butter and pissed on the trap ? Rats seemed of dried up.
How are you other guys getting on ?

5 stoats today in my high country traps. Bit shocked really as we dont expect many over the winter.
I am trying a new lure bait. A hand full of mallard feathers over the trap plate and in the bait end of the trap. The egg is elevated so it is viewable. Mallard feathers have a real smell to them. Cant wait to check them next week lol.
