Got a couple of rats in my locally set stock water race traps today after only a few days since they were last cleared ! Perfect kills with the Victors using peanut butter. They are a great trap.
Nowhere near Cruz s success though they cleared 34 rats out of traps in 1 day !!
Anyone else getting lots of pests ?

High up in a range on Saturday in misty weather and a big fat ferret was standing up looking for the danger approaching.Hard to kill with a pruning saw.Must take a trap for it next time.

Good on you padox, we got a stoat in the Holdem walk-in trap we set for rats on the hut porch this week, unexpected surprise. Set a few Timms traps baited with smoked fish this week ,will see what transpires?
Get as close as you can, then get a bit closer.

Went to the West Coast for a tiki tour on the weekend and stopped to have a quick look at my high country traps that i had put salted hare in. Nothing so far, but i did see where something had removed the hare bait from between the 25mm squares in the "wire window", it got the bait without running over the trap .
The question is how big a piece of bait should i use ?
Got a rat in my local traps today that something had tried to make a meal out of.
Let us know how you get on X.

I am just trapping a public Park these days - not catching any stoats or ferrets, but they must be around as I see them dead on the highway Rat kill numbers increased during March - despite very low kill numbers in January (23) and a slight increase in February (36) - kill numbers during March have increased to 114 - four of us cleared 34 on one day It looks like they have had a great summer breeding season and the younger ones have left home and are on the move - looking for a good feed of possum paste and some steel around their necks We are seeing aggressive feeding on trapped bodies - some completely or partially devoured back to the box trap entrance and some removed from the tunnel traps Some Ditrac bait starting to move this month - but that won’t do them much harm Other than the rats, we got 4 possums and 8 hogs in March - 195 bird predators so far for 2018 I am starting to get a few bodies under the A24s - two sites with double kills and three sites with single kills - so they do work - but mainly young rats learning some “hard” lessons I am always looking for a new set and continue to find fallen logs to be very successful - often over-night results - possibly the younger ones checking out something new Not sure where these rat numbers are heading - but Predator Free NZ seems to be a long way off using traps and bait - we got 500 bird predators during 2017 and it looks like we will see that sort of number again this year Quail numbers are looking good - several coveys of 50 or more - great to see them doing well

Good on you Cruz, keep up the effort, hell, I don't count hedgehogs, we get a few, they seem to arrive in families. Even seen the nocturnal little nasties on some of our game cameras. Quite interesting observing passing deer's reactions to a dead possum in a Timms trap on the game cam. pic's.

I capture some very large feral cats on my game cameras.
Whats the best way of trapping them people? Need to be kill traps because I can't check them regularly.
