He has learned by watching his family members die in a box - smart stoat
Try more traps Alan - Snap-E or a Victor Pro will take him out - mount them on a ramp or a fence stay so he goes over the side when he gets snapped - he wont pull out without his feet on the ground
Smooth in a tube, possum paste or peanut butter will get him - but best lure is rat piss - catch a rat - it will get pissed off and it will run down the ramp - next victim will be the stoat

I also got a weasel a few months back on my best fence stay - I must have got a hundred rats on that stay beside a neighbour’s dark wet gully - he partly cleaned up a rat  - but he came back for another feed and made a bad mistake - the flower pot is to keep the trap out of the rain

Checked my local traps today and paid the price for being away for 3 weeks. 1 manky hedgehog  Cry and 2 rats, 1 of which would of been caught last night on 3 week old peanut butter !

Anyone know of peanut butter in a tube, gotta be easier than undoing the lid, scrape a bit out ...etc...

You can buy refillable plastic squeeze tubes at camping stores. Might want to avoid crunchy grade PB though

We got a stoat and 3 hedgehogs in our traps last week. Have to get some smoked kahawai this week, to try and tempt a  tabby mini-tiger that a game camera picked up this week.

Get as close as you can, then get a bit closer.

Cleared my local traps the other day and either got mega mouse or a small juvenile rat .Today (4 days after the clearance) i shifted 3 traps as there was going to be earth works happening nearby. Finally got a rat in a trap that i would of thought was in a good place but it usually fails... but not today.. Wink Smiley
