Thanx for the info on firearm license.
I intend to visit NZ maybe 7 or 8 weeks early 2010(March-April) and I'm planning to bring my personal rifle. I think I will fill paperwork and fax it to NZ before arriving. Is it better?
Thanx again !

Not for private land, you do need a hunting permit from DOC to hunt on public land which is free and there is no test.

No test ?

Good.

I shivered for a second...  Smiley

Is that permit available when I reach NZ or do I need to take steps before arrival?
Thanx

You just get one at the local DoC office when you're here. Quick and painless.
