Kevin Frazier is the owner/operator of Rangitata Fishing Safaris.
Kevin has lived all his life in Ashburton, Mid Canterbury. He has been
fishing the 3 major rivers and the numerous, picturesque, back country
lakes that this area has to offer, for Salmon, Brown and Rainbow Trout
since he was just 8 years old, giving him over 35 years local
experience and knowledge.
Hunting Red Deer - Fair chase
• A privately owned 36000 acre station recently acquired
• well populated with Red deer
• Night shooting - small game
• Lodge accommodation
• minimum 5 day package
• season runs from March to August
• heads range from 10 - 14 pts
Salmon Fishing
• Rangitata, Rakaia & Waitaki Rivers
• late November to mid April
• spin or fly fishing
• fish vary in size each season and can reach up to 40 lb
• river mouth to back country
Trout fishing
• available all year round
• main fishing season October to April (our summer months)
• lakes & back country streams open on first Saturday in November
• lakes, rivers & streams hold good stocks of brown and rainbow trout - 2.5 lb to 10 lb
• spin and fly fishing
• searun trout - an evening fish for these feisty trout is productive and exciting!
• average fish weighs 3.5 - 6 lb; the cunning ones reach double figures!
• the fish move from sea to river system chasing smelt
• they are tasty on the grill for breakfast!
