Kingfish Secrets Editor Kingfish Secrets An oldie but a goodie, Kingfish Secrets still delivers the goods — lots of hints and tips with all of the popular techniques covered in detail. There’s livebaiting, trolling (including downrigging), jigging, dead baits and land-based fishing. Plenty of action but much more in the way of useful information. The film is interspersed with some interesting home movies, including some great footage of drifting live kahawai baits for big kinfish off Port Charles, Coromandel. Two older gentlemen catch some beaut fish of 25kg-plus. This footage is cleverly intercut with some of Geoff’s stock underwater shots. Thge other highlight is the landbased sequence with some big bruisers forcing hapless kahawai baits to virtually climb the rocks to get out of the way. Good stuff. Kingfish Secrets, along with Snapper Secrets, is the best of the Secrets series. The formula was a good one, though it got a little thin towards the end. Although this video was made ten years ago, nothing’s changed and it’s still good value. Look out for a young Adam Clancey, NZ Fisherman advertising exec and fisherman of considerable skill. END
