Fishing licences are readily available from most sport stores and cost NZ$65 for a whole season (for NZ resident, may be different for visitor). Hunting permits for the public estate (forest parks) are free from the Department of Conservation. If you want to massacre a few turkeys come to Hawkes Bay, drive around the countryside a bit until you find a mob, drive to the nearest house to get permission to whack a few, and go for it... theyre a bit of a hazzard to safe motoring and eat as much as a sheep, so most farmers are glad to be rid of a few if you clean up afterwards. If you want more of a challenge there are a few ferral peacocks around... Happy hunting.
