The fishing around Timaru is GREAT.
Within 45 minutes drive of Timaru you
have the 3 best Salmon rivers in the
counrty. These rivers also hold good
numbers of Browns as well as rainbows.
About 10 minutes north of Timaru are 2 rivers
which have always held goog numbers and they can
only improve now as just finished a dam on the river this year
and this will maintain the river flow at a min. of 5cm/s. They
have also released a large number of both adlut & jev. fish in the
lake and according to my brother the will be great.
You also have the lakes (about 1.5 hours drive) but they mainly hold rainbows.
