I was in the same boat as you a few years ago. You should join your local deerstalkers club. Youre close to lots of good hunting. You will get to know local hunters and when they see your keen they will take you out and show you a good spot or two. It will make all the difference. I spent a couple of years messing around getting bugger all. Then a couple of old fellas in the NZDA took me out and before I new it I had shot a few deer.
