Hi out there, I have recently been fortunate enough to “ at last” move to New Zealand, Gods Country! I have been here a couple of time before, primarily on hunting and fishing trips to the South Island. I am currently living in Rangiora but very likely will be moving to Auckland by next week as that is where I am going to be working. I have been out after Pigs only once and had no luck, but found I really liked this sort of hunting, especially as it involves the use of dog. I have applied for my Gun license and completed the training course, now just waiting for the interview and issuance of my license. I would real like to know what sort of rifle to get for pig hunting, I am thinking about the 20-inch Rossi 45 Magnum carbine. Anyone have any comment on this as my choice? Also as I am very new in NZ I would love to hear from ANY ONE in or around the Auckland area who I can get in touch with regarding any sort of hunting or fishing. Also suggestions on Dogs and training and also best vehicle to buy, Nissan verses Toyota 4X4 and why ? Looking forward to any response.
