I've hunted goats with a K-hornet (more accurate than a Hornet as it headspaces on the shoulder of the case).
I used 45 grain Remington hollowpoint powerlokt projectiles and IMI 4227 or ADI AR 2205.
The Remington projectiles hold together surprisingly well. I've taken billies only with head shots but I've taken nannies at up to 50 metres on quartering shots; hitting just behind the near shoulder the projectile has lodged in the off-side hip.
The goats have been taken on fishing trips (the rifle in question is a break-action) when opportunity has presented and the trout have been scarce.
When setting out to hunt goats why not use something you can rely on to work under difficult conditions? There's nothing wrong with a 6.5 X 55, 308 etc.
